Recap: New Underwood Tigers vs. Wall Eagles

The New Underwood Tigers pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wall. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), New Underwood still had to take the loss.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eli Kelley, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Kelley scored 15 or more points. Cash Albers was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Wall's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brodi Sundall, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Teelan Kjerstad, who scored 18 points along with three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for New Underwood and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Wall, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

New Underwood will face off against Upton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Upton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than New Underwood in their respective states (Upton is ranked 11th in Wyoming, while New Underwood is ranked 94th in South Dakota). As for Wall, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Custer at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Custer's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
