The Lincoln High Links's six-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They snuck past Fremont with a 54-48 victory. Lincoln High's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Ayana Owens was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordynn Collins, who scored 16 points.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jenna Mcclain, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Denker, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Lincoln High's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-11. As for Fremont, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln High will take on Omaha North at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Omaha North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Saturday. As for Fremont, they will be playing at home against Lincoln Southeast at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Southeast presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fremont in Nebraska (Lincoln Southeast is ranked 57th, while Fremont is ranked 206th).
