Recap: Alexandria Valley Cubs vs. Southside Panthers
This season hasn't been kind to The Alexandria Valley Cubs, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They were dealt a 49-21 loss at the hands of Southside on Friday. Alexandria was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.
Alexandria's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Cherokee County and 7-1 Jacksonville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 78.7% over those games). As for Southside, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Alexandria will look to defend their home field on Friday against Talladega at 7:00 p.m. Talladega comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Southside, they will head out on the road to face off against Moody at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Moody is ranked 80th, while Southside is ranked 63rd).
