Recap: Elm Creek Buffaloes vs. Loomis Wolves
The Elm Creek Buffaloes entered their tilt with the Loomis Wolves with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Elm Creek greeted the New Year with with a 48-33 victory over Loomis. That's another feather in the cap for Elm Creek, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Elm Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashley Bauer, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bauer pulled down eight or more rebounds. Ryann Erickson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Loomis' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Zeigh Booe, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Addison Perry who scored 12 points along with three steals. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Elm Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Loomis, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-8.
Elm Creek won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wilcox-Hildreth at 3:00 p.m. on January 6th. Wilcox-Hildreth is on a three-game streak of home wins, Elm Creek a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Loomis will take on Arapahoe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Arapahoe has insisted on making their lastseven contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 4-3 during that stretch of close contests.
