Baseball Recap: Truckee Snags 14th Win in Last 17 Games

Truckee got themselves on the board against Hug on Wednesday, but Hug never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 10-0 win. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Colby Jitloff looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Arata, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Truckee's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 10-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Cabrera, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Truckee hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive games.

Truckee is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Hug, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Truckee will face off against North Valleys at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hug, they will challenge Sparks at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hawks are facing the Railroaders at the right time seeing as the Railroaders are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
