Softball Recap: Carolina Academy Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

It was a proper cat-fight when Carolina Academy faced off against Lake City on Friday. The Bobcats blew past the Panthers 18-7. Considering the Bobcats have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Raeley Frye was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Frye was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Carlie Anne Smith and Paisley Coker did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Coker went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave Coker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Braveboy, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Carolina Academy's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Lake City, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Carolina Academy has already played their next matchup, a 6-1 win against Dillon Christian on the 29th. As for Lake City, they will head out to challenge Johnsonville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
