Basketball Recap: Leesville Comes Up Short

Leesville lost against LaGrange back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Leesville Wampus Cats were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to the LaGrange Gators. The Wampus Cats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Leesville lost, don't look at Shyann McCummings. Despite the final result, she posted 24 points. McCummings' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Tekeirah Harris, who earned 11 points.

Leesville's defeat dropped their record down to 16-11. As for LaGrange, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Leesville has already played their next game, a 48-20 victory against Bunkie on the 20th. As for LaGrange, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-23 loss against Midland on the 15th.
