Baseball Recap: Midd-West Comes Up Short

Midd-West extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-9 in the process. They fell 5-1 to the South Williamsport Mountaineers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 4-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for South Williamsport, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.

For South Williamsport's part, the team relied heavily on Tadd Lusk, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Lusk has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Torin Haug, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Midd-West will face off against Mount Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the RED TORNADOES have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for South Williamsport, they will take on Wellsboro at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
