Oak Mountain is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Spain Park, who was ranked first at the time (Oak Mountain was ranked fourth). The Eagles fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The matchup was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Oak Mountain couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Vestavia Hills came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Patriots as they made off with a 4-0 win. Vestavia Hills might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by three goals or more this season.

Vestavia Hills pushed their record up to 13-1-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matchups. As for Oak Mountain, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-3-2 record this season.
