Sterling has gone 8-2 against Moline recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Golden Warriors will welcome the Maroons at 4:30 p.m. Sterling is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Sterling came up short against Rockridge and fell 9-4.
Lily Cantu made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Marley Sechrest, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Moline got the win against Normal West on Friday by a conclusive 9-3. Considering the Maroons have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayley Reynolds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emersyn Rasso, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Gianna DeLeon was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI.
Moline kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.
Sterling's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Moline, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sterling hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Moline struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sterling came out on top in a nail-biter against Moline when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Golden Warriors repeat their success, or do the Maroons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
