Basketball Recap: Romeo Roberts' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tampa Bay Tech over Leto

Tampa Bay Tech fought the good fight in their overtime match against Leto on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Leto Falcons by a score of 69-67. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Titans have suffered since November 30, 2024.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Romeo Roberts, who posted 17 points. The dominant performance gave Roberts a new career-high in points. Evan Clark was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Leto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jakobe Bruton led the charge by going 9 for 21 en route to 25 points and eight steals. Bruton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Riggs, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds.

The defeat snapped Tampa Bay Tech's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-13 record. As for Leto, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-13.

Tampa Bay Tech wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-34 loss against Lake Wales on the 18th. As for Leto, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-46 defeat against Newsome on the 21st.
