Softball Preview: Conant Cougars vs. Hoffman Estates Hawks
Conant is a perfect 10-0 against Hoffman Estates since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Hawks at 4:45 p.m. Conant will be strutting in after a win while Hoffman Estates will be coming in after a defeat.
Conant came out on top against Palatine on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Cougars took their matchup against the Pirates 5-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 24, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Dani Gemmell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Charlotte Wolf was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Sophia Gomez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Hoffman Estates was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss. They lost 10-0 to Schaumburg.
Hoffman Estates saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexa Jocic, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Conant pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hoffman Estates, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-21.
