The Cardinal Newman Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Northwood Academy Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Cardinal Newman duked it out with Augusta Christian on Friday. The Cardinals snuck past the Lions with a 14-9 victory. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 172nd in South Carolina, while the Lions are ranked 444th in Georgia) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Northwood Academy beat Hammond 23-10 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Northwood Academy's win came from a few key players Cardinal Newman will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kaven Ford, who rushed for 100 yards and one TD. Aydan Hogan did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards.

Cardinal Newman's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Northwood Academy, their record now sits at 5-1.
