Baseball Recap: Hawley's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hawley walked away with it. They never let the Christoval Cougars get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Bearcats, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Not much got past Keegan Ables, who gave up just a hit to keep Christoval off the board. Ables has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aiden Romo, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Alek Southerland was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Hawley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in four consecutive games.

Hawley pushed their record up to 14-6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Christoval, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-9.

Hawley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
