Baseball Recap: Newton Falls' Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Newton Falls was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against East by a score of 8-3. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Georgie Phillips was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Stinson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Michael Bennett was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Newton Falls' win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for East, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
