Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Butte County). They put the hurt on the Challis Vikings with a sharp 75-49 victory on Saturday. With the Pirates ahead 45-24 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Koden Krosch was his usual excellent self, going 10 for 15 on his way to 26 points along with five assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Bracken Powell also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Butte County was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Challis lost, don't look at Brayden Ollar. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Ramey Rhoades, who posted 11 points.

The win was the sixth in a row for Butte County, bringing their record for this year to 11-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.3 points. As for Challis, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-8 record.

Butte County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-53 victory against West Jefferson on the 28th. As for Challis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 52-49 win against Grace Lutheran on the 28th.
