Baseball Recap: Shenendehowa Sets Scoring Season-High Against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shenendehowa). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans a 12-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Plainsmen have beaten the Spartans the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Spartans has come to flipping the script.

Shenendehowa got a great performance from Maximus Palermo as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Palermo has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aiden Thielke was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maxwell Jones, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Shenendehowa's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Shenendehowa will square off against rival Ballston Spa at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Plainsmen 3.4, the Scotties 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake is set to challenge their familiar foe Colonie Central at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
