Basketball Recap: East Comes Up Short

East lost against Kapaun Mt. Carmel back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The East Aces took a 59-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kapaun Mt. Carmel Crusaders.

Despite the loss, East still got an impressive performance from Ismael Berry, who posted 26 points. Berry has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Henderson, who scored nine points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Kapaun Mt. Carmel's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rocco Keller, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards. Another player making a difference was Corbin Johnson, who went 6 for 12 en route to 19 points and seven rebounds.

East's record is now 8-7. As for Kapaun Mt. Carmel, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East and Northwest will meet in a classic East v. West matchup at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something East surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kapaun Mt. Carmel, they will welcome Bishop Carroll at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kapaun Mt. Carmel knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Bishop Carroll likes a good challenge.
