Football Recap: Clay Comes Up Short

Clay managed to slip by Yulee the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Blue Devils took a blow against the Hornets on Friday, falling 43-7. The Blue Devils were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Landon Martin threw for 123 yards on eight of 20 attempts. MiKeise Battle was his top target, picking up 45 receiving yards.

Jayden Timmon was nothing short of spectacular for Yulee: he rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. The Hornets also got a significant boost from Corbin Fletcher, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.

Clay's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Yulee, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clay will challenge Middleburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Yulee, they will face off against Charlton County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
