Basketball Game Preview: Garner Longhorns vs. Woodson Cowboys

Garner hasn't had much luck against Woodson recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Garner Longhorns will take on the Woodson Cowboys at 7:30 p.m.

Garner is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Perrin-Whitt on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Garner was beaten by Perrin-Whitt 98-21. The Longhorns were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-11.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Woodson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 47-29 win over Newcastle on Friday.

Garner better keep an eye on Nicholas Romo. He was instrumental in Woodson's win, going 8 for 11 on his way to 19 points and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Romo a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Jace Munoz, who posted 14 points and four steals.

Woodson's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 13-9. As for Garner, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-9.

Garner took a serious blow against Woodson when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 62-18. Can Garner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
