Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Oak Park-River Forest's Tenth in Last 12 Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Oak Park-River Forest walked away with it. They came out on top against the Taft Eagles by a score of 4-1 on Friday. Four seems to be a good number for the Huskies as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Anna Topel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gloria Hronek was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maura Carmody, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Oak Park-River Forest is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Taft, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-14.

As of now, neither Oak Park-River Forest nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
