Football Recap: Warde Comes Up Short

Warde played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Wilton Warriors, falling 49-28. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost nine in a row.

Despite the loss, Warde still got an impressive performance from James Dellavolpe, who threw for 102 yards and one TD, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground.

Charlie Calabrese was his usual excellent self, rushing for 44 yards and one score, while also throwing for 124 yards and one touchdown for Wilton.

Warde's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Wilton, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Warde will head out to take on Westhill at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Wilton, they will be playing at home against Greenwich at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Warriors 13.1, the Cardinals 11.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
