Baseball Recap: Moriarty Extends Winning Streak to Three

Moriarty entered their tilt with Taos on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 7-3. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 18-13 victory two weeks ago.

Evan Pacheco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Moriarty is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-9 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Raiden Scribner, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

Moriarty pushed their record up to 9-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Taos, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moriarty will head out to challenge Grants at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Taos, they will take on Pojoaque Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
