Baseball Recap: Acalanes' Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Acalanes had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Ukiah Wildcats a 3-0 shutout. The victory was some much needed relief for the Dons as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Branson Smith tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ando Butner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Ben Pecci was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Acalanes hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matches.

Acalanes' win bumped their record up to 14-10-1. As for Ukiah, they dropped their record down to 12-13 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Acalanes nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
