Baseball Recap: Rancho Beats Western for Their Fourth Straight Win

Rancho entered their tilt with Western on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Warriors 8-1. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jonathan Ramos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Rancho: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, Rancho got a big performance out of Ethan Nelson, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave Nelson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Paulson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Rancho pushed their record up to 9-12 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Western, they moved to 6-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rancho beat the Warriors by a score of 11-0 on Wednesday.
