Softball Game Preview: Rodriguez Mustangs vs. Justin-Siena Braves

The Rodriguez Mustangs will take on the Justin-Siena Braves at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rodriguez has three straight victories, Justin-Siena has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Rodriguez made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Napa, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Rodriguez never let Napa get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Wednesday. That looming 13-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.

Ellie Steiger was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelique Boot, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Steiger wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Rodriguez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Justin-Siena kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against Healdsburg, falling 17-4.

Rodriguez's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Justin-Siena, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
