Basketball Recap: Eldon Takes a Loss

Eldon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 49-19 loss at the hands of the Chillicothe Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while the Hornets are ranked 34th).

Eldon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Corin Davis, who posted six points and five boards, and Lily Henley, who had four points.

It was another big night for Lyla Beetsma, who went 8 for 9 on her way to 17 points and five steals for Chillicothe. Beetsma's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Lexy Smith also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Eldon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Chillicothe, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Eldon has already played their next matchup, a 59-53 win against Southern Boone on the 14th. Chillicothe has also already played their next contest (against California), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
