Baseball Recap: Sedgwick County Has No Trouble Against Holyoke

Sedgwick County won the last time they faced Holyoke and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cougars put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 15-4 victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Roman Kirk made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Kirk was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tate Renquist, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Korven Magana, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Sedgwick County and bumps their season record up to 9-12. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Holyoke, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-23.

Looking ahead, Sedgwick County will challenge Wray at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. Holyoke does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
