Baseball Recap: Midland Trail Comes Up Short

Midland Trail extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 5-17. They fell 4-1 to the James Monroe Mavericks. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by exactly three runs.

Midland Trail saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kolton Eades, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for James Monroe, their record now sits at 9-12. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Midland Trail: they've now won seven in a row.

On James Monroe's side, Kadyn Hines was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Hines has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Midland Trail is taking a road trip to face off against Clay County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for James Monroe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Westside at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mavericks will need to watch out since the Renegades have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
