Recap: Skyview Wolverines vs. Centaurus Warriors
The Skyview Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 27 points or more this season. They really took it to Centaurus for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-26 victory at home. Given Skyview's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Centaurus is ranked 182nd), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Skyview was led to victory by Nevaeh Lucero and Leila Estrada. Lucero scored ten points along with nine assists and eight rebounds, while Estrada scored 27 points along with eight assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Estrada has scored at least 25% of Skyview's points.
Skyview's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Centaurus, they bumped their record down to 2-5 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skyview will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Vista PEAK Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Centaurus will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Greeley West at 5:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
