Preview: Silver Creek Raptors vs. Monarch Coyotes

Silver Creek is 0-3 against Monarch since October of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Silver Creek Raptors will be playing at home against the Monarch Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Silver Creek's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 40-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greeley Central.

Silver Creek might have lost, but man, Cole Rogers was a machine: he rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 101 receiving yards and a touchdown. Rogers was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards. Carter Blair also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Meanwhile, Monarch had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Greeley West 44-11 on the road.

Riley Montemayor was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 120 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Brody Gray, who gained 47 total yards and two touchdowns.

Another reason for the win was Monarch's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was Noah Hunziker and his four sacks.

Silver Creek's loss was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. As for Monarch, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Silver Creek came up short against Monarch when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 31-21. Thankfully for Silver Creek, Aidan Murray (who rushed for 219 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
