Basketball Game Preview: Laconia Spartans vs. Winneconne Wolves

The Laconia Spartans will take on the Winneconne Wolves at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Laconia is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering St. Mary's Springs just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Ledgers by a score of 67-65. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Spartans came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Ledgers are ranked 172nd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winneconne). They blew past North Fond du Lac 101-46 on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Winneconne's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Laconia, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.

Laconia was able to grind out a solid win over Winneconne when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 70-59. Will Laconia repeat their success, or does Winneconne have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
