Softball Game Preview: Redlands Terriers vs. Palm Desert Aztecs

The Redlands Terriers will square off against the Palm Desert Aztecs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Redlands will be strutting in after a victory while Palm Desert will be coming in after a loss.

Redlands took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They skirted past Arrowhead Christian 9-8. The Terriers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Shay Figueroa was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those runs were her first of the season. Sophia Akimoto was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Redlands kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Palm Desert came up short against Coachella Valley on Thursday and fell 14-9.

Gwyneth Kitagawa made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 2-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Taneia Arviso, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Redlands' win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Palm Desert, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Redlands came out on top in a nail-biter against Palm Desert in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Does Redlands have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palm Desert turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
