Baseball Game Preview: Winthrop Ramblers vs. Maine Central Institute Huskies

The Winthrop Ramblers will venture away from home to challenge the Maine Central Institute Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Winthrop and five for Maine Central Institute.

On Monday, Winthrop came up short against Mount View and fell 6-3.

Carter Collin put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Trent Collin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, in Monday's Canine Competition, Maine Central Institute had to take the L. They came up short against Hall-Dale on Monday, falling 17-2.

Maine Central Institute saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Karlin Mack, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Nathan Poissonnier also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Winthrop's record is now 4-4. As for Maine Central Institute, their record now sits at 1-6.

Maine Central Institute's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Winthrop has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game.
