Football Recap: Foothill Takes a Loss

Foothill was the 12-0 winner over Villa Park when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Knights and the Spartans were almost perfectly matched up on Monday, but the Knights suffered a 13-12 loss. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Although Foothill took the loss, they still got scores from Oakley Montague and Lili Reid.

Even if they lost, Foothill's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Hailee Flower, Fernanda Martinez, and Sydney Schmidt, who each picked up one sack apiece. Foothill got some further help from Flower: she picked up a sack and made four total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Foothill now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Villa Park, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Foothill is set to face off against their familiar foe La Habra at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Knights 12.1, the Highlanders 14.6) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Villa Park will challenge rival Trabuco Hills at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
