Football Game Preview: Coronado Cougars vs. Canyon Springs Pioneers

The Coronado Cougars will square off against the Canyon Springs Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Coronado will be strutting in after a victory while Canyon Springs will be coming in after a defeat.

Coronado is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Chaparral, who was ranked 20th at the time (Coronado was ranked 15th). Coronado secured a 19-13 W over Chaparral on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Canyon Springs fell victim to Mojave and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Rattlers, falling 26-0. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Coronado has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.3 points per game. As for Canyon Springs, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Everything came up roses for Coronado against Canyon Springs when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 41-0 win. Will Coronado repeat their success, or does Canyon Springs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
