Baseball Recap: Firth Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Firth came out on top against Challis on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Cougars put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 14-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Brycen Andersen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Firth got a massive performance out of Michael Adams, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Darrell Vasquez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Firth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matches.

Firth's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Challis, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-9-1.

As of now, neither Firth nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
