Baseball Recap: Valley Falls Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Valley Falls came out on top against Jackson Heights on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Dragons' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cobras an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Collin Kearney made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last ten matchups.

In other batting news, Hayden Kearney was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Damian Cervantez, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Valley Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson Heights only posted an OBP of .364.

Valley Falls has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 17-4 record this season. As for Jackson Heights, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.

Coming up, Valley Falls will take on Horton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Jackson Heights, they will challenge Jefferson County North on Thursday.
