After a string of seven wins, Menlo-Atherton's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish. Even though they lost, the Bears' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Menlo-Atherton got a good showing from Tyler Rosenthal, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rosenthal has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jack Molise was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. Ronan Cutright was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Menlo-Atherton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-10 record.

Menlo-Atherton and Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Bears (ranked 103rd) will meet Capuchino (ranked 333rd) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory will take on Lincoln at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (371 vs. 857).
