Softball Game Preview: Nathan Hale Raiders vs. Mercer Island Islanders

The Nathan Hale Raiders will face off against the Mercer Island Islanders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Nathan Hale nor Mercer Island posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Nathan Hale's offense. They came up short against Holy Names Academy on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The Raiders haven't had much luck with Holy Names Academy recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Nathan Hale saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Libby Lobkovich, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Lobkovich has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Mercer Island came up short against Sammamish on Monday and fell 5-2.

Mercer Island's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Nathan Hale, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Everything went Nathan Hale's way against Mercer Island when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Nathan Hale made off with an 18-8 win. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Islanders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
