Basketball Recap: Kayden Roberts' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vance County over Northwest Halifax

Vance County was the 47-34 winner over Northwest Halifax when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Vance County Vipers received a blow on Monday as they fell 63-45 to the Northwest Halifax Vikings. The Vipers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Vance County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kayden Roberts, who posted nine points. Damon Heggie, Jr was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Even though they lost, Vance County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

It was another big night for Daveion Richardson, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 15 rebounds for Northwest Halifax. Richardson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of TrAli Hyman, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards.

Vance County's record is now 3-8. As for Northwest Halifax, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Vance County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 83-64 loss against Carrboro on the 3rd. As for Northwest Halifax, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 82-42 victory against Rocky Mount Prep on the 3rd.
