Football Recap: Marquez Piles Up the Points Against La Puente + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marquez). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 55-12 win over the La Puente Warriors. With the Gladiators ahead 42-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Marquez's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angelo Gutierrez-Molina, who threw for 158 yards and four touchdowns. Those four passing touchdowns gave Gutierrez-Molina a new career-high. Tobi McClendon was another key player, gaining 114 total yards and a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why La Puente lost, don't look at Ezekeil Zamora. Despite the final result, he threw for 213 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. 94 of those passing yards were hauled in by Junior Preyer-Ronquillo.

Marquez's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for La Puente, they moved to 3-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Marquez will challenge Eagle Rock at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Gladiators will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for La Puente, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ganesha at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The matchup will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
