Basketball Recap: Leon Takes a Loss

If Leon was feeling good fresh off their 71-34 takedown of Groveton last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Leon Cougars were dealt an 80-33 loss at the hands of the Grapeland Sandies on Tuesday. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Leon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Grapeland, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Leon Cougars take on the Centerville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Grapeland, they will welcome Lovelady at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Grapeland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Lovelady likes a good challenge.
