Preview: Rochester Rockets vs. Coal City Coalers
Rochester is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Coal City is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Rochester Rockets will take on the Coal City Coalers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Rochester humbled Lincoln with a 59-14 victory. Given Rochester's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Lincoln is ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rochester had a senior duo take command as Parker Gillespie rushed for 57 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries and Nolan Mrozowski rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Mrozowski is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Coal City got themselves on the board against Normal University on Friday, but Normal University never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pioneers 44-0 at home. Coal City pushed the score to 38-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Normal University had no chance of recovering from.
Their wins bumped Rochester to 10-0 and Coal City to 8-2.
