Baseball Game Preview: Elsinore Tigers vs. Sutter Huskies

The Elsinore Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Sutter Huskies at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Sutter took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Elsinore, who comes in off a win.

Sutter will be up against a hot Elsinore squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Tigers walked away with a 7-3 victory over Mar Vista on Wednesday.

Elsinore got a great performance from Isaiah Henderson as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Henderson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andrew Jimenez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Elsinore's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Jovan Huerta also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Sutter's offense. They came up short against Calexico on Wednesday, falling 6-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Huskies were not able to get on the board.

Sutter saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Karter Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Sutter and nudges their season record down to 12-2. As for Elsinore, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
