Baseball Game Preview: Halifax County Comets vs. Franklin-Simpson Wildcats

The Halifax County Comets will head out on the road to challenge the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Halifax County made easy work of Kennett and carried off a 9-1 win. Considering the Comets have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Brian Osborne was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Ty Throckmorton also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Franklin-Simpson faced off against East Jessamine on Sunday. The Wildcats walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Jaguars.

The team relied heavily on Liam Heinze, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Layne Alford, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Halifax County's record now sits at 5-6. As for Franklin-Simpson, their record is now an identical 5-6.
