Softball Recap: East River Comes Up Short

After flying high against Freedom on Thursday, East River came back down to earth. The Falcons fell just short of the Winter Springs Bears by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost five in a row.

East River saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gaby Angueira, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

East River's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Winter Springs, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. East River will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lake Nona at 6:00 p.m. on April 7. As for Winter Springs, they will head out to face off against Lake Brantley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
