Football Game Preview: Layton Christian Academy Eagles vs. Providence Hall Patriots

The Layton Christian Academy Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Providence Hall Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Layton Christian Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Layton Christian Academy's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-0 victory over Judge Memorial Catholic. The contest marked the Eagles' most dominant win of the season.

Trevor Halalilo had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 130 yards and two TDs. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 75 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Layton Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 230 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 230 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Layton Christian Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hayden Tuinei and Mark Montgomery. Layton Christian Academy received some extra help from Ole Hensel, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Providence Hall and American Leadership Academy had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Patriots fell 31-26 to the Eagles on Friday. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Providence Hall's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Layton Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Everything came up roses for Layton Christian Academy against Providence Hall when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 35-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
