Softball Recap: Chino Wins Going Away Against Montclair

Chino won the last time they faced Montclair and things went their way on Monday too. The Cowboys put the hurt on the Cavaliers with a sharp 14-6 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cowboys.

Kristine Lancaster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 14 hits.

On the hitting side, Chino let Melody Stark and Samantha Juarez run wild. Stark went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Juarez went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Juarez has posted over her last eight matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Quintero, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Chino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.

Chino's record now sits at 10-11. As for Montclair, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Chino will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cavaliers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
