Basketball Game Preview: Hobart Bearcats vs. Sayre Eagles

The Hobart Bearcats are taking a road trip to take on the Sayre Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hobart took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Navajo by a score of 59-50. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Indians are ranked 347th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Sayre can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 54-30 margin over Cordell. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Eagles have posted since January 26, 2024.

Hobart's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 18.8 points. As for Sayre, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-9.

Everything came up roses for Hobart against Sayre when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 94-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hobart since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
